49. Giggly trainee girls

And talking about me

I am a Hindi speaking North Indian, and this story is from the late 1980s when I was a young, handsome lad working in Bengaluru.

I was working as a designs engineer in a BHEL factory in Bangalore. There was no language issue in my section, but whenever I had to go to the shop floor (as and when equipment for my projects went into production), I used to have a language issue as most of the workers conversed in Kannada.

After some time, when I was involved in the intensive testing of one of the modules I was designing, I was stationed in the PCB assembly for 2-3 months.

The PCB assembly section had a lot of young diploma trainee girls who would talk to each other in Kannada and giggle.

I figured out that were teasing me, but I could never understand what they were saying. Also, being a shy guy, I did not ask anyone either.
